Milton Keynes Hash House Harriers
The Logo

There are two things that people in the UK associate with Milton Keynes,
Roundabouts and concrete cows.
Milton Keynes' most famous inhabitants, were constructed in 1978 by community
artist Liz Leyh. Who built them with the help of local school children using scrap
materials. The Cows are not actually solid concrete but are hollow.
The Cows and several other concrete animals were installed at several sites
throughout the city. The concrete cows received the most publicity and became
widely associated with Milton Keynes.
The cows were originally in Bancroft and have since been moved to Bradwell Park
and can be seen from the main railway line to Euston just North of Milton Keynes
Central railway station.
As for roundabouts Milton Keynes has over two hundred of them.
As part of a Student rag week in the 1980's one of the cows was dug up and mounted
on one of the others. From the idea of one cow on another (On On geddit)
came the start of the MKH3 Logo.
The first T-shirt showed the mounted cows on the front and nothing on the back.
The design was created by Bob (Rayno Shine) Pannel.
The next T-shirt was for the 21st run.
The next leap forward came when our founder Jonathan (Grizzler) Hobbs came up
the design for the map of England and Wales. Being a Kiwi he had no regard for the
feelings of the Gaelic races in Scotland and Ireland, so he left them out.
The next set of T-shirts had the cows on the front and the map on the back,
these came in a beautiful shade of lime green.

(Have you tried scanning in a T-Shirt on an A4 scanner?)
The two designs were merged for the back of the 101 T-Shirt
and this has been our logo ever since.
